Nin Dibaamaye Nind Ajemigiwe (Return)
11-02-2005
A smoke filled room,
And my ancestors appear all around,
They speak to me of all that is,
And point to the sky and Earth,
I am given gifts for my "work,"
A map is shown with my path,
It is there in a flash and gone,
Just as fast as my ancestors vanish,
But are within,
Within everything,
The sea,
Earth,
Animals,
Me,
I feel them within,
They have not vanished,
And the visitation is assurance,
Of their return,
Of my return,
We are home,
And it is time we return.

10 voices speak:
"We are home,
And it is time we return."
I can't describe it well but feeling wells up inside me when I read those lines.
Sloth Womyn - It really is time to return home, do you feel that? But it seems like we have such a long way to go on this Planet? Ahh, that it is why it is so important to start within.
so true. Within is the closest we can get to "home" while we do work on this planet.
Yes through all my meditations this is what I have found to be true - home is within. What have been your experiences?
Okay, I know the poem is way more serious than this... but did you ever see the animated movie Mulan? When you mentioned the smoky room and the ancestors coming together, I totally thought of that beginning scene where everybody comes out and talks about Mulan's destiny. I'm so ridiculous, lol.
I don't really feel like I have ancestors. Like, I get the sense that my family just stops somewhere above my grandparents. I know my mom's side immigrated from Italy, but that's about it. And, of course, you can't just take other people's ancestors. Then again, I'm studying Hinduism in my philosohpy class right now, and it's cool because we've been talking about Brahman, which is supposed to be the source of, like, EVERYTHING. So, when you talk about the earth and the sea and animals, it's easier to see ancestors in them than maybe my actual family line. Is that weird, lol?
I don't really watch many movies so I have not seen Mulan.
Maybe that is something you can begin to explore? I have always felt my ancestors strongly and my connection to them has only grown stronger over the years. That is totally not weird to see your ancestors in the animals, sea, etc. In fact it makes perfect sense to me since the Earth is not separate from me. I don't really know too much about Hinduism and I would be interested in knowing more. ;)
